Hon Ameria Kyambadde who is currently the Minister for Trade and Cooperatives is one of the most admired and influentail women in Uganda. She served as the Principal Private Secretary to H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.She has dedicated her lief to serving humanity and working towards social-economic transformation of communities. She has engaged both Government and private sector to ensure affordable health for rural people,better education,local industrialisation and aaffordable electricity.

Amelia was born as the first and only child to Serwano Kulubya and Mary Kafureeka in 1955. She however had a total of six other siblings from both her father and mother’s side, and numerous cousins from the Kulubya side of the family, as her father had a total of 11 siblings. She was raised predominantly by the Kulubyas and was therefore no stranger to luxury. It is this ‘cushioned’ upbringing that first stirred compassion for those in her community who lived off less.

Having been born in England, and then returning to live with her wealthy grand parents in Nankulabye, and socializing only with her cousins on the paternal side, Amelia had had no exposure to hardship and poverty. That is until she started school, and met other children from less privileged homes. Her father used to tell a tale of how Amelia would go to school with fine leather shoes from England, and return home with plastic ones, that had been finely polished with Vaseline, her reasons would entail having felt pity on a friend who had admired and openly coveted her shoes, and how an exchange had been a very agreeable option for the two them.

The woes of her compassion got worse when she joined boarding school, Amelia would give away anything and everything to whomever she deemed less fortunate and need of aid. And her father knew with certainty that every few weeks into the beginning of a term, he would receive a message of his daughter’s desperate situation of hunger or lack of something critical. No matter how bad the scolding she would get, Amelia never stopped trying to solve the plight of her less unfortunate contemporaries, she in fact became better at telling tales of how her things would vanish. Unknown to everyone back then, this would be the origins of her philanthropy.



Amelia Anne Kyambadde would best be defined as a Ugandan Philanthropist, Politician, and mother. She is the elected Member of Parliament for Mawokota North County in Mpigi District of Uganda. On 27th May 2011 she was appointed Minister for Trade and Industry in the Ugandan Cabinet, an office she still occupies.


Amelia was born on 30th June 1955 in Guildford, Surrey UK, to the late Serwano K. Kulubya an Advocate, and Mary Kafureka, a trained Nurse. At the tender age of 4, her father relocated back to Uganda and took Amelia along.

Dr. Eng Silver Mugisha  is the Managing Director of National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC).

He is a Recipient of the Uganda Responsible Investment Mark of Excellence Award as the Uganda Safe Water Accessibility and Affordability Champion of the Year 2020/2021.Recognised by Public Opinions on 31st March 2021 at an Award Ceremony presided over by H.E Mazzanti Massimilliano the Ambassador of Italy to Uganda.

He has over 20 years' experience in water utility operations, international policy, research and advisory services. He has been instrumental in the transformation of National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NSWC) and has served the Corporation in various capacities since 1994. Prior to his appointment as the Managing Director, he was Chief Manager in charge of the Institutional Development and External Services Division.
He has led several teams of experts from NWSC-External Services on a number of institutional development and governance strengthening assignments in various organizations in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Trinidad & Tobago, India, among others.

He has a wide and long experience in water governance, performance improvement planning and institutional development. He has contributed to knowledge development in the water sector and published a number of policy and research papers in several peer-reviewed journals, mainly focusing on performance management, WSS reforms in developing countries, pro-poor services, and technical efficiency analysis.

He has contributed to the advancement of the water sector internationally by holding several positions in a number of international institutions. He is currently the Vice President (East Africa) of the Executive Board of African Water Association (AfWA); President of the Scientific and Technical Council of AfWA (2010-2014); Chairman of the WOP-Africa Programme Committee (2010-2014); member of IWA Programme Committee (2010-2012); a fellow of International Water Association (IWA); and a fellow of Netherlands SENSE Research School. He has authored a book (published by IWA Publishing) titled, "Utility Benchmarking and Regulation in Developing Countries: Practical Application of Performance Monitoring and Incentives".
He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (Upper Second Class) from Makerere University, Kampala and a Master of Science degree in Sanitary Engineering - Sector Utility Management Option (with Distinction) from UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education, Delft, The Netherlands. His Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Economics and Management was awarded by Makerere University - Uganda in Collaboration with PURC-University of Florida, USA

He currently serves as the Chairperson of Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE) and Chairperson of Uganda Business and Technical Examinations Board (UBTEB).

He is a Recipient of the Uganda Responsible Investment Mark of Excellence Award as the Uganda Safe Water Accessibility and Affordability Champion of the Year 2020/2021.Recognised by Public Opinions on 31st March 2021 at an Award Ceremony presided over by H.E Mazzanti Massimilliano the Ambassador of Italy to Uganda.

Lt. Gen Proscovia Nalweyiso was recognized by Public Opinions on 31st March 2021 with the Uganda Responsible Investment Mark of Excellence Award as an Exceptional Inspiration Female Freedom Fighter in appreciation of her immeasurable contribution towards Liberation of Uganda from the Tyrannical Regimes, and her commitment to attainment of the Uganda Vision 2040 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Proscovia Nalweyiso is the first Female Major General in Uganda, and one of the few women across the continent to hold such a powerful military position. She joined the NRA Liberation war in 1982 and commanded the Unit of female NRA fighters up to 1986 when she was appointed the commandant of the 800-member women's wing in the Army at that time. She has since been committed to working closely with H.E Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to ensure total peace and stability in all parts of Uganda.

Gen Nalweyiso is a senior Ugandan military officer in the Uganda People's Defense Forces (UPDF). At the rank of Major General, she is the highest ranking female officer, in the Ugandan military. She is one of the most powerful Women in Uganda and one of the best handlers of H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Lt General Proscovia Nalweyiso was born in June 1954, in Mpigi District, in a family with 20 children. In 1979, she began work as a schoolteacher and typist in her home area. During his period, she became an active member of the Ugandan Democratic Party. Following the 1980 Ugandan National Elections and the subsequent formation of the National Resistance Army (NRA), Nalweyiso joined the guerrillas in the bush in 1982 which captured state power in 1986 hence the final liberation of Uganda from tyrannical regimes.

In 1983 a unit of female NRA fighters was formed and Nalweyiso was appointed as its commandant. The following year, the unit was relocated from Luwero District in Central Uganda, to Western Uganda.

In 1985, the unit Nalweyiso commanded participated in the NRA forces that attacked Mbarara military barracks. Following that deployment, the NRA Women's Wing settled in Fort Portal, until the war ended in 1986. In 1986, when the NRA captured power, Nalweyiso was given the rank of captain and appointed the commandant of the 800-member women's wing in the army, at that time. She steadily rose through the ranks and by 2000 was at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

In 2011, Proscovia Nalweyiso became the first female Brigadier General in Ugandan Army ranks, a noteworthy achievement, which was celebrated across the continent. Fast-forward to 2017, the country has recorded another remarkable milestone, the promotion of Brigadier Nalweyiso to the rank of Major General.

For over a decade prior to her promotion to Major General, she had worked at the Uganda State House as an aide and military adviser to H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni the president of the Republic of Uganda.




H.E DR William Arap Ruto Deputy President of Kenya Awarded with the 2019 East Africa Leadership Award

H.E William Ruto Deputy President of Kenya was on 19th November 2019 recognised by Public Opinions and East Africa Book of Records with the 2019 East Africa Leadership Award  in Nairobi in appreciation of his contribution towards social economic transformation of East Africa and Inspiring millions of East Africa Young people especially from marginalized Families.

He is an Icon of the Disadvantaged people and the Hope of the poor but above all the Greatest Inspirator in East Africa.THE Award will be presented to him by East Africa Book of Records and Public Opinions International both from Kampala Uganda East Africa.

Public Opinions is led by Luzindana Adam Buyinza who is its Team Leader and East Africa Book of Records is led by Dr PAUL Bamutaaze who is its President. These two youthful men were in Nairobi  for the High Profile Ceremony which was  attended by the Speaker of the Senate,Members of the East Africa Legislative Assembly, Ambassadors of the East Africa Community countries and it will be presided over by H.E Dr William Ruto Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya.

William Ruto had always been a brilliant student and continues to remain one even today. He has been actively involved in Kenyan Politics and is the first Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, a position which is equivalent to that of a vice-president. He has also worked as a teacher before joining politics and apparently, the politician was great at his job and earned a lot of respect in that profession. Ruto entered the realm of politics when he started campaigning for the presidential candidate of ‘KANU’, Daniel arap Moi. This campaign was not just a great success, but it also proved this leader’s political skills. Ruto’s leadership qualities helped him get elected to various positions in the government. He has faced many obstacles during his political career and has been accused of many wrong doings but God continue to protect him.He has worked in the committee responsible for reforms in the constitution. Childhood & Early Life:

·   He was born to Daniel Cheruiyot and Sarah Cheruiyot on 21st December 1966, in the Kamagut region of the Kenyan county Uasin Gishu.

·   Ruto received his elementary education from a primary school at Kamagut, and then entered the ‘Wareng Secondary School’ located in Eldoret.

·   After completing his O-level education, Ruto joined the ‘Kapsabet High School’ situated in Nandi, to pursue his A-level education.

·   Later, he joined the ‘University of Nairobi’, where he enrolled for a bachelor’s degree. He specialized in subjects such as Zoology and Botany, as a part of this course. He graduated in 1990, and topped his class for which he was offered a scholarship to pursue his master’s degree at the same university.

·   In 1991, he enrolled for an MSc at the university, but a year later, he postponed the course for other engagements.

·   In 1992, he joined the party ‘Kenya African National Union’ (KANU), in their election campaign to support the party’s founder, Daniel Arap Moi.

·   He was a candidate of the ‘Kenya African National Union’ (KANU) and entered the political sphere of Kenya, after he was appointed as a Member of Parliament for the Eldoret North constituency, in the year 1997.

·   In 2002, he was elected as the Assistant Minister of Home Affairs, and in the same year, he was again elected to the Parliament.

·   This leader became the Secretary General of ‘Kenya African National Union’ (KANU) party, in the year 2005.

·   William announced in the year 2006, that he would contest the Presidential elections, which was to commence the next year. However, this decision of the leader was not supported by his ‘KANU’ comrades. So, he tried to file the candidature from the ‘Orange Democratic Movement’ (ODM), but failed to get a nomination.

·   In 2007, William parted ways with the ‘Kenya African National Union’ (KANU) party and resigned from its secretarial post.

·   In the presidential elections of 2007, there were differences in the decision as the election commission announced that the ‘National Rainbow Coalition’ candidate Mwai Kibaki as the president, while the exit polls showed another Kenyan politician and candidate for the presidential election, Raila Odinga, as the winner.

·   However, Kibaki was elected as the President of Kenya and soon after, both Kibaki and Odinga came to a mutual understanding and decided to form a coalition cabinet.

·   The coalition cabinet was finally formed in 2008 and William Ruto was elected as its Agricultural Minister.

·   This political leader was shifted to the Higher Education Ministry from the Ministry of Agriculture in the year 2010.

·   In 2011, the politician stepped down from his responsibilities as a minister, but he continued to be a Member of Parliament. The same year, this leader completed his Masters course in Environmental Science.

·   The ‘Law Society of Kenya’ (KSK) blacklisted some individuals on charges of corruption in the year 2012, and asked the public not to vote for the ones cited in the list. Although Ruto’s name was in the list he managed to get a huge number of votes the next year, when he was a running mate to the current Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.

·   Ruto along with Kenyatta formed the coalition party named ‘Jubilee Alliance’, in order to contest the presidential election jointly.

·   In the 2013 Presidential Elections, Uhuru Kenyatta was voted as the President and William Ruto was elected as the Deputy President of Kenya.

Major Works:

·   William had been employed as a teacher in various secondary schools at Sirgoi and Kamagut before entering politics. It’s said that dozens of students have benefited immensely from the leader’s style of imparting education. Many of his students claim that he always wanted them to reach great heights.

Personal Life & Legacy:

·   William Ruto and Rachel Chebet are married since 1991. They knew each other since their college days, way before tying the knot. The couple has been blessed with six children since then.

·   It is said that William has huge number of shares in the insurance company ‘Amaco Insurance’.


·   It is believed that Ruto has done many unskilled jobs like that of vending groundnuts and chickens in the Nakuru-Eldoret road
