The Second Penang Bridge is a project under the cooperative framework between China and Malaysia.

The project works comprise the design engineering, procurement, construction, testing & commissioning of System Works packages such as Track work System & Power Conductor Rail, Power Distribution, Communications, Lightning & Surge Protection, Signaling & Train Control System including Re-Signalling of existing line, New OCC, New Depot, supply of Equipment for LRV System, new Line Extension at Sentul Timur, Special Arrangement at Interchange Putra Heights Station (Station 13) and Associated Works on Existing Line. The scope undertaken by CHEC is the track work for the mainline, ramp, depot.

The project is the first project of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge carried out within the territory of Hong Kong and is located at the sea area to the northeast of Hong Kong International Airport. An artificial island with an area of 150 hectares will be constructed by means of sea reclamation, where checkpoint inspection facilities and office buildings of related institutions will be built. The project mainly covers construction of an about 6,140m long sea embankment, which is made up of 134 cellular steel sheet pile barrels with diameter of 27m or 31m. More than 19 million m3 of backfilled materials will be used for the project. High-efficiency ground treatment technology will be applied so that earth reaches desired strength within a short time and a solid foundation will be laid for subsequent construction of land buildings on the artificial island.

This project mainly covers construction of four 100,000DWT container berths, one 100,000DWT oil wharfs and two 30,000 DWT feeder berths, building of 490,000m2 harbor basin shared between Phase II and Phase III projects, one offshore artificial island and 400,000m2 road stockyards.

The construction projects mainly include a breakwater project at the south side of the terminal, one berth for 50,000-tonnage container ships as well as one 40,000-tonnage multi-purpose terminal, with a construction duration of three years.

The project includes two parts, the maintenance and dredging in the channel of Qasim Port, and dredging for the U-turn extension project.

The project mainly includes container wharf, general cargo wharf, naval forces wharf, breakwater, etc. As for structural type, the wharf is a gravity type block wharf. The waterline of the wharf is 7,845m long and 6,500m3 of earth and stone will be excavated.

The project is designed to cover design and construction of one grain transportation transfer station (including purchase and installation of ship loaders, ship unloaders, belt conveyers and other equipment), one 50,000-ton temporary silo and one 200,000-ton silo as well as construction of related office buildings, work towers and other auxiliary facilities.

The main work is an gravity caisson wharf, with 19nr caissons. The biggest caisson is around 2150ton. The yard is 160,942m2. The ancillary services include water supply, fire fighting, drainage, telecom facilities etc. There are 26 buildings including office building, storehouse, water gate, plant, guardhouse, electricity distribution station, sewerage treatment area etc.

The total length of the 4 lanes highway is 11 km, including one multi-level crossing bridge, one 3.255km long overpass, one road bridge, 10 flyovers, 19 box culverts, 12 pipe culverts.

The construction of the railway line starts from south of Juba southward in South Sudan, all the way to the border city Nimule, with overall length of 165km, permanent land occupation of 567.33 hectares.

The project mainly covers construction of a new petrochemical wharf with two berths, 800-m trestle, rear processing plant, control system and other related supporting facilities.

Consisting of works of the first segment and the third segment, Bid Section I Project for Outer Breakwater Reinforcement of Oran Port of Algeria is 1,540m long in total. The first segment is 1,040m long and the third segment is 500m long with a breakwater head. The project mainly covers dumping and filling kinds of stone of 703,000m3, prefabrication and installation of BCR cubes of 141,000m3.The construction period is 24 months.

It is an F+EPC project, whose contract amount is €70.24 million, approximately equivalent to USD 100 million. The project mainly covers construction of one 20,000DWT wharf berth and a wharf with total length of 241m, including water works, dredging works, some civil engineering works and other supporting facilities.

The Cabello New container Port will be constructed in three phases. The current contract has been executed for Phase I Project, which mainly covers two 70,000DWT container berths, 690m long steel pipe sheet pile gravity-type wharf bank line, container yard with total area of 379,000m2, 736m long breakwater, dredging of harbor basin, loading and unloading equipment, road yard as well as the supporting facilities for water, electricity, communications, automatic control, fire protection, civil engineering facilities and others. Annual handling capacity of the new Phase I container berth project can reach 700,000 TEU.

CHEC will accomplish the project in 26 months. The project includes one 300,000 DWT crude oil terminal, 30KM navigation channel dredging and other supporting facilities.

The project is the one with the largest contractual value in the history of the Sudan Office, which mainly includes a runway for the landing and take-off of Airbus 380 planes, airline terminals, control towers, connecting taxiways, cargo areas, parking lots, and the maintenance hangar and ancillary facilities.

On January 6, CHEC signed the Maritime Works Construction General Contract on Adipala 1X660MW Supercritical Coal-fired Power Station of Indonesia. The value of the contract is around USD 102 million, with a construction duration of 30 months.

This is the first project won by the Egyptian Branch after its establishment in September 2008, which will positively promote economic and social development of Egypt. By means of the project, CHEC starts its pioneering work of constructing BOT projects in Egypt. This milestone project lays down a solid foundation for CHEC to further expand the infrastructure construction market of Egypt.

On December 12, Saudi Arabia Office of CHEC and the Ports Authority of Saudi Arabia signed a contract for constructing two new berths of Ras Az Zawr Port, namely the fifth and the sixth berths. The value of the contract is 318.95 million riyals (approximately equivalent to USD 85.05 million). This is a continued project undertaken by CHEC on the basis of satisfactorily completing Ras Az Zawr Port project.

The Grain & Fertilizer Terminal is located at QASIM Harbor, Karachi, Pakistan, closely near the QICT international container quay extension works. The project mainly includes 79550m2 grain and fertilizer yards, warehouse and a 300m quay wall, including dredging to -15.6m.

Macao International Airport was constructed on an artificial reclaimed island created by CHEC.

The Gaojiashan Railway Tunnel of double track Lanzhou-Urumchi Railway starting from DK24+730 to DK37+302,is located in the XIgu Region in Lanzhou city and Yongjing Country with the total length of 12572m.

The fuchuan tunnel of double track Lanzhou-urumchi railway is located in yongjing country in gansu province with the total of 10469m. starting from DK39+730 to DK50+379,it has one tube and double line with IV surrounding rock 8705m and V surrounding rock 1944m in the body.Most of the tunnel rock is mud rock, with little sandstone on some parts ,and the ground water is corrosive bedrock fissure water.

Located in Yongjing country in Gansu Province,the bridge starts from the exit of the tunnel of double track Lanzhou-urumchi railway to the entrance of xinzhuang tunnels, passing across the yellow river by the continuous girder steel with 4 spans.

The Jinjiang Bridge of the Newly constructed Railway of Hangzhou-Changsha(Jiangxi)is 8863.02m in length ,and passing through the yangwei town of gaoan city and huibu town in Jiangsu province.

The No.2 Liaojia Super Major Bridge of the Newly constructed Railway of Hangzhou-Changsha(Jiangxi Section)HKJK-6 is 6586.96m in length , and the span is 32m.

Running through northwest part of China’s Gansu,Qinghai provinces and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region,with a total length of 1776km,the design speed of over 200km/h,the second double track line of the Lan-Xin Raliway as one of the China’s major railway construction projects,is China’s first high-speed railway to be constructed in high-altitude areas.

This double-track electrified railway of 2066km，with the design speed of 350km/h and a total investment of over 300 billion RMB.Locating at Gao’an,Yichun City Yushui areas of Jiangxi province,Jiangxi segment HKJX-6,construction of the Engineering works of a new railway between Hangzhou and Changsha Railway Passenger Line of Shanghai-Kunming high-speed passenger railway contracted by China Harbour Engineering Co.,Ltd.

QICT quay is located in QASIM Port, Karachi, Pakistan, the project mainly includes filling of container yards, construction of quay and berth dredging.

China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. has Set up “CHEC Scholarship” in eight famous Chinese Universitses such as Zhejiang University, Tianjin University and Harbin Institute of Technology. The total amount of the scholarship (student aid fund) is around RMB 1.2 million.

CHEC held scholarship (financial aid) set-up activities in Zhejiang University and Tianjin University on June 15 to 17 respectively. President Sun Ziyu CHEC attended the set-up ceremony in Zhejiang University and signed the agreements on behalf of the Company.

July 5, 2010 witnessed the ground breaking ceremony of the design and construction project of transportation improvement of the urban central section of Tuen Mun Road undertaken by CHEC Hong Kong Zhenhua Company. The ceremony marked the formal start of the project with a contract value as high as HKD 1.548 billion.

CHEC’s Yanbu Project in Saudi Arabia attaches importance to environmental protection in project construction. In order to protect the primitive sea environment, CHEC has creatively invented cost-effective trash racks, which effectively deterred pollution by the project construction.

A fund-raising activity with a theme ‘Love without Borders’ was conducted in early October at the Indonesian Longwan Wharf Project which is undertaken by China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd.(CHEC). More than 60 CHEC staff participated in the activity and donated 22,100,000 rupiah (about ＄2300) to help Indonesia earthquake victims.

34 new employees just joined China Harbour last month, when many other companies are laying off their staff because of the global financial turmoil.

At 9 o’clock on July 15, 2009, the irrigation ceremony of Bay Centre Marina (No. 1 Marina) of NAJMAT Abu Dhabi Project was held by China Harbour Engineering Company, which indicated the main work of Phase I for NAJMAT Abu Dhabi Project was completed successfully.

On September 12, the school opening ceremony was held in Hehai University for 10 Sudanese students financed by CHEC studying in China.

Ten Sudanese students arrived in Beijing on September 8, starting their 2-year study in China. In July, China Harbour set up a ‘CHEC Education Fund’ in order to finance some Sudanese students to study in China. The 10 students arrived on Monday are the first group benefited from the Fund.

According to the Agreement, China Harbour will set up a “CHEC Education Fund” to finance 10 Sudanese students studying in Hohai University for 2 years starting from September 2008.
