Olam began operations in Uganda in 1997 and has since diversified into 6 products, these include cotton, cocoa, sesame and coffee which are all procured through our farmer networks and processed in country. In addition we import and distribute sugar and edible oil.
Our head office is located in the capital Kampala, supported by a strong regional presence in Hoima, Kibuuku, Bundibugyo, Lira, Arua, Kitgum, Pakwach and Mayuge. We have over 70 permanent employees and in excess of 400 seasonal workers across our broad operations which extend along the value chain from origination and processing, to logistics and distribution.
Coffee, cocoa and sesame are all processed in Kampala, supported by a well-equipped laboratory to maintain the excellent quality and flavours. Cotton ginning processes are also quality assured to maintain fibre properties, spinning medium-to-fine counts using 28-30mm. Our products are delivered to customers worldwide but have increased appeal in certain regions based on flavour profiles and consumer demand.
