On 9th November 2017, The University of Bologna was recognized and honored with the 2017 Global Sustainable Development Award by Public Opinions International an organization based in Uganda East Africa led by youthful people of Uganda Africa with a mission to work towards attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through field based training and mentorship sessions on UN Sustainable Development Goals, Personal competitiveness, and also information dissemination, Human Rights Awareness, Public Awareness, awarding organizations and companies around the world.
The Certification of Award was presented to Professor Francesco Ubertini the Rector of the University of Bologna in The University Board Room in The City of Bologna in Italy On 9th November 2017. The Award was presented by Luzindana Adam Buyinza Team Leader of Public Opinions International
University of Bologna is the oldest continuing teaching university in the world having started operation in AD 1088 and it has never stopped operation up to date.
University of Bologna is the first University in the World to Officially be awarded and recognized by Public Opinions International with the Global Sustainable Development Award and the Rector of the University Officially received it and appended his signature on the Certification of Award.
The University of Bologna was awarded due to its commitment to promote attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through provision of high quality research, provision of high quality university education, commitment to follow up and report on the progress of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, Inspiring millions of students and scholars around the world.
The University of Bologna is supporting refugees through its Educational programs in which refugees from Sub Saharan Africa are given chance to study at the University and to be able to study Italian language to ably interact in Italy.
The University of Bologna is now working to identify students, people from civil society organizations in Africa and around the world to participate in short training courses designed towards understanding the 17 United Nations Sustainable development Goals.
The University of Bologna is one of the very few known Universities in the world which are committed to report on its progress on attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.Prof Francesco Ubertini the Rector University of Bologna handed over the University Report on UN Sustainable Development Goals to Luzindana Adam Buyinza Team Leader of Public Opinions. The rector encouraged Public Opinions to focus more on attainment of the UN SDGs and to find means to establish a meaningful working partnership.
Public Opinions will continue to identify, recognize and award Universities, individuals and corporations which are fully committed to contribute towards attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
