Museveni’s Industrialization Drive Creates 6,000 Jobs in Mbale – Evelyn Anite
President Museveni’s industrialization efforts, spearheaded by Investment Minister Evelyn Anite, are yielding fruits. The Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park has showcased its inaugural BUBU trade fair and Baraza, a resounding success for Uganda’s export promotion and import substitution policies.
Vice President Jessica Alupo commissioned the Grace Mattress factory, one of 51 factories in the park, which have created over 6,000 jobs for Ugandan youth. Public Opinions will induct these 51 factories into the 2024 Uganda Development Champions Journal in appreciation of their contributions towards social-economic transformation of Uganda through industrialization, creating jobs, paying taxes, producing high quality products,etc- Buyinza Adam Luzindana Team Leader of Public Opinions announced
Our commitment is to create jobs for ugandan youth and boost local industrialization paul Zhang Chairman of Sino-Mbale Industrial Park stated.
Anite’s determination to drive economic growth is evident in her hands-on approach, having personally mobilized squatters to vacate land for factory construction.Thank you, Gen. Museveni, for making it possible for our youth to work-she said.
Industrialization benefits Uganda through job creation and economic growth, foreign direct investment boosts, infrastructure development, and poverty reduction. The transformation from maize and rice plantations to a thriving industrial hub demonstrates the success of Museveni’s policies.
Anite recalled her efforts, “From maize, rice plantations to 51 factories, creating six thousand jobs in Mbale Industrial park. I can’t forget the days I would drive to Mbale to mobilize squatters to get out of the land to enable us to build factories.
With leaders like Anite and Museveni driving this agenda, Uganda’s industrialization efforts are poised for continued success.
Uganda’s efforts to boost foreign direct investment are paying off, and Investment Minister Evelyn Anite’s statement highlights the country’s focus on creating a beautiful and peaceful nation. This surge in investment is expected to drive economic growth, job creation, and industrialization.
The latest reports indicate that the Presidential Initiative on Jobs and Wealth Creation (Emyooga) has reached 2,237,402 direct beneficiaries, creating 378,640 new direct jobs. Additionally, the Parish Development Model (PDM) has provided funds worth Shs 1.126 trillion to 1.165 million households, estimated to create about 2.5 million jobs.
Uganda’s industrialization strategy focuses on agro-industrialization and light manufacturing, supported by access to affordable credit through institutions like the Uganda Development Bank (UDB) and the Uganda Development Corporation (UDC). The government is also investing in industrial parks, construction, and maintenance of roads and bridges.
The economy is projected to grow by 6.4-7% in the next financial year, driven by increased oil and gas activities, growth in exports, tourism activities, private investment growth, and industrialization and light manufacturing.
These efforts demonstrate Uganda’s commitment to creating a beautiful and peaceful nation, with a strong focus on employment and industrialization.
